The Mystery of Grace, a book by Charles de Lint. Get The Mystery of Grace Books in several format like PDF, EPUB, Mobi. Download The Mystery of Grace books, On the Day of the Dead, the Solona Music Hall is jumping. That's where Altagracia Quintero meets John Burns, just two weeks too late. Altagracia – her friends call her Grace – has a tattoo of Nuestra Señora de Altagracia on her shoulder, she's got a Ford Motor Company tattoo running down her leg, and she has grease worked so deep into her hands that it'll never wash out. Grace works at Sanchez Motorworks, customizing hot rods. Finding the line in a classic car is her calling. Now Grace has to find the line in her own life. A few blocks around the Alverson Arms is all her world -- from the little grocery store where she buys beans, tamales, and cigarettes ("cigarettes can kill you," they tell her, but she smokes them anyway) to the record shop, to the library where Henry, a black man confined to a wheelchair, researches the mystery of life in death – but she's got unfinished business keeping her close to home. Grace loves John, and John loves her, and that would be wonderful, except that John, like Grace, has unfinished business – he's haunted by the childhood death of his younger brother. He's never stopped feeling responsible. Like Grace in her way, John is an artist, and before their relationship can find its resolution, the two of them will have to teach each other about life and love, about hot rods and Elvis Presley, and about why it's necessary to let some things go. Download The Haunt of Grace books, From the pen of one of today's most visionary spiritual thinkers comes a book of profound explorations on the mysteries and marvels of faith, love, and life. Believing that mystery is at the very heart of faith, Loder delves deep into the "sneaky" ways God surfaces in the muddle of everyday experience. In fourteen chapters crafted from his best-loved sermons as Senior Minister of the First United Methodist Church of Germantown (Philadelphia), Loder's persistently evocative images call us to live in this scarred, beautiful world differently, to find a truer, more compassionate place in it. This is not a book for the timid or complacent; it's one of the most exciting spiritual reads you'll come across in a long time.

God Is . . ., a book by Wesley J. Wildman. Get God Is . . . Books in several format like PDF, EPUB, Mobi. Download God Is . . . books, Your God is too small--way too small! What if God is not a human-like personal being but the God Beyond God of the Christian mystical traditions? What if God is the ultimate reality beyond all beings, including beyond all divine beings, indeed beyond all Being? It's a mind-bending idea. Speaking of God as a human-like personal being is much easier but people who care about the deepest mystical understandings of God within our traditions need to make the effort to speak about the God Beyond God, despite the difficulties. This book makes the attempt to speak of the God Beyond God in the language of the sermon, using metaphor and potent imagery tuned to the existential intensities of human life. The God Beyond God is closer to us than our jugular veins, vividly present in every moment of our lives. These sermons are practical and moving, and they also resonate with the most rigorous theological understandings of ultimate reality. Their deconstruction of our convenient fantasies about a divine being make these sermons emotionally intense and perhaps not suitable for beginners in the journey of faith. But veteran believers can breathe deeply in the air of these meditations, relaxing into the bliss of engaging ultimate reality without delusions, without deflections, and without controlling the object of our worship.

Download The Mystery of James Revealed in Droplets of Grace books, The Mystery of James Revealed in Droplets of Grace is Pastor Mac Goddard's attempt to offer a view of the book of James, through daily meditations that he calls "droplets of grace." Early in his ministry, Pastor Goddard read the book of James in the same manner he read the rest of the Bible-through the lenses of legalism, attempting to learn the rules of the Christian life, so he could please God and make it safely to Heaven. As a result, he really struggled with the book of James, finding it impossible to reconcile with the writings of Paul. He is not alone among scholars in this difficulty; Martin Luther, the iconic figure of the Protestant Reformation, also struggled with the book of James. Somewhere in Pastor Goddard's journey, however, it became clear to him that he desperately needed to change his spiritual glasses so that he could read the Bible through the lens of grace-God's unmerited favor. The difference was remarkable. Instead of bringing confusion and doubt, his study of the book of James brought life, peace, and freedom. The Mystery of James Revealed in Droplets of Grace examines the meaning of each of the ideas brought forth in the book of James in daily meditations that present the verses and then explore explanations of each. You too can come to grips with the book of James through these droplets of grace.

Charles Journet explores philosophy, revelation and history to explain grace fully. Journet lays out both the doctrinal development of grace and corrects persistent mistakes that Catholics make about grace. He covers habitual grace, actual grace, predestination, justification, merit, and much more. He even includes a revealing exploration of Adam's earthly paradise and how the nature of the Fall called forth God's response of grace.

The Mystery of Grace, a book by Okwudili Eze. Get The Mystery of Grace Books in several format like PDF, EPUB, Mobi. Download The Mystery of Grace books, The access to God’s grace is by means of an objective body of revelation. Paul noted: “For the grace of God hath appeared...instructing us...” (Titus 2:11-12). Isaiah, speaking of the messianic age, exclaimed: “...he will teach us of his ways...” (2:3). Jesus himself declared: “It is written in the prophets, and they shall all be taught of God. Every one that hath heard from the Father, and has learned, comes unto me” (John 6:45). God’s grace is not dispensed apart from an instruction that requires both understanding and obedience. In these days when there is a tendency to ‘stampede’ folks into the church, with a minimal comprehension of what they are doing, this is a crucial matter to emphasize. The reception of God’s grace is conditional. Noah, by faith, obeyed the Lord, and so was blessed. While God extends grace, human beings must be willing to “receive” the favor (2 Corinthians 6:1). Grace is accessed initially at the point of gospel obedience. It is shocking that so many sincere people are unaware of the fact that ‘grace’ and ‘obedience’ are not enemies. Paul affirmed that grace is accessed by faith (Romans 5:1-2; Ephesians 2:8-9). It is not, however, a faith void of loving response to God; it is a faith that acts (James 2:21-26). The concept of God’s “grace” is thrilling beyond words. It shines its brightest when well understood and utilized. The state of grace must be embraced continuously; otherwise one will fall from divine favor, and his initial reception of Heaven’s grace will have been “in vain” (2 Corinthians 6:1, 1 Corinthians 15:10). It is incredible that many, who identify themselves with Christianity, should contend that it is impossible for the Christian to fall from God’s grace. If one cannot fall out of grace, why did Paul urge his fellow-believers to “continue [present tense—sustained perseverance] in the grace of God” (Acts 13:43)? The Scriptures warn of certain Christians who attempted to revert to the Mosaic regime for salvation. As a result, they were “severed from Christ” and “fallen away from grace” (Galatians 3:26-27; 5:4). Grace is a soul-thrilling concept; it must be deeply appreciated, but never manipulated or distorted. This book unravels the mysteries behind the workings of ‘grace’ and presents you with the requisite guidelines needed to enjoy the grace that flows from God’s throne of grace.

Download The Great Mystery of the Covenant of Grace books, John Owen concludes his excellent Preface with these words: "This worthy author has laboured, if I am not much mistaken, unto good success. And, as his design is to extricate things which seemed perplexed, to give light into the whole doctrine of the covenants, by declaring the proper order and method of things contained in them, with their respect one unto another; that the grace of God, in the Covenant of Grace, may be exalted, and his faithfulness, with his holiness, in the Covenant of Works, both in and by Jesus Christ, the end of the one, and the life of the other. So the reader will find, I hope, that satisfaction in these great and deep enquiries, which he will have occasion to return praise and thanks to God for." Mark Jones concludes his excellent New Introduction with these words: "The rewards are to be reaped from a careful study of this work. I would suggest keeping a Bible and pencil close by since Petto is constantly making reference to the Scriptures without giving the quotation of the passage cited. But more importantly, I would suggest keeping your heart firmly fixed upon the Lord Jesus Christ as he reveals to you, by his Spirit, THE GREAT MYSTERY OF THE COVENANT OF GRACE."

The Grace of God, a book by Andy Stanley. Get The Grace of God Books in several format like PDF, EPUB, Mobi. Download The Grace of God books, “Grace. It’s what we crave most when our guilt is exposed. It’s the very thing we are hesitant to extend when we are confronted with the guilt of others—especially when their guilt has robbed us of something we consider valuable. Therein is the struggle, the struggle for grace. It’s this struggle that makes grace more story than doctrine. It’s the struggle that reminds us that grace is bigger than compassion or forgiveness. That struggle is the context for both. When we are on the receiving end, grace is refreshing. When it is required of us, it is often disturbing. But when correctly applied, it seems to solve just about everything. This struggle is not new; it has been going on since the beginning.” —Andy Stanley We find in the pages of Scripture that the stories found there often mirror our own stories, and that we too need the very thing we do not deserve: the grace of God. From the beginning, the church has had an uneasy relationship with grace. The gravitational pull is always toward graceless religion. The odd thing is that when you read the New Testament, the only thing Jesus stood against consistently was graceless religion. The only group he attacked relentlessly was graceless religious leaders. Even now as you think about grace, there might be a little voice in your head whispering, “It can’t be that easy!” “What about obedience?” “What about disobedience?” “What about repeated misbehavior?” “What about bad habits?” “What about justice?” “What about repentance?” It’s this tension that makes grace so slippery. But that’s the beauty and the truth of grace. We don’t deserve it. We can’t earn it. It can’t be qualified. But God gives it to us anyway because he loves us unconditionally. The story of grace is your story. And as you are about to discover grace plays a larger role than you imagine.

Download The Last Supper on the Moon Study Guide plus Streaming Video books, This Study Guide includes: Individual access to five streaming video sessions Discussion and reflection questions with video notes Personal study between sessions Leader’s Guide In the summer of 1969, Buzz Aldrin had a mission. His goal was to fly 240 million miles from earth and, along with fellow astronaut Neil Armstrong, be the first to walk on the moon. But moments before that historic step, Aldrin poured a specially prepared drink into a cup and partook of a sacred celebration that had first occurred two thousand years before. The lunar Last Supper was full of meaning, just as it had been when Jesus himself took of the elements and acknowledged his calling and purpose. But the significance didn't end there. Today, as we remember the sacrifice of Christ on the cross, followed by his resurrection, we are reminded that what seemed to be an end became the genesis of everything—including the rescue and restoration of anyone who calls on Jesus' name. In this five-session study, bestselling author and pastor Levi Lusko journeys back in time and forward in hope, using the 1969 lunar mission as an analogy of the metamorphosis that was unleashed by the man from Galilee. Along the way, he uncovers the remarkable "seven statements" that Jesus made from the cross—words that provide us everything we need in the chaos of our world to conquer judgment, persecution, anxiety, and pain. Designed for use with The Last Supper on the Moon Video Study (sold separately).

Download The Four Vision Quests of Jesus books, A unique look at Christian biblical interpretation and theology from the perspective of Native American tradition. This book focuses on four specific experiences of Jesus as portrayed in the synoptic gospels. It examines each story as a “vision quest,” a universal spiritual phenomenon, but one of particular importance within North American indigenous communities. Jesus’ experience in the wilderness is the first quest. It speaks to a foundational Native American value: the need to enter into the “we” rather than the “I.” The Transfiguration is the second quest, describing the Native theology of transcendent spirituality that impacts reality and shapes mission. Gethsemane is the third quest. It embodies the Native tradition of the holy men or women, who find their freedom through discipline and concerns for justice, compassion, and human dignity. Golgotha is the final quest. It represents the Native sacrament of sacrifice (e.g., the Sun Dance). The chapter on Golgotha is a discussion of kinship, balance, and harmony: all primary to Native tradition and integral to Christian thought.

Greeley's Blackie Ryan stories are reviewed and explicated in this study of the author's novels featuring the delightful and leprechaun like detective. The book surveys detective fiction in which the unique, irrestible, and sometimes irrepressible Blackie Ryan, who is sometimes, but not always, a persona for the author, appears. Download Men, Women, and the Mystery of Love books, “Edward Sri is a gifted teacher and an equally talented writer. This book shows why. He breaks open Karol Wojtyla's great text, Love and Responsibility, in a way that's clear, engaging and very practical for the challenges of daily life.” – Charles J. Chaput, O.F.M., Archbishop of Philadelphia. This updated and expanded edition of Edward Sri’s classic meditation on Pope John Paul II’s Love and Responsibility includes a new introduction, new chapters for single people and engaged couples, and the stories of people whose lives have been transformed by Pope John Paul II’s foundational teaching on relationships. Fr. Karol Wojtyla (Pope John Paul II) published Love and Responsibility in 1960, revealing a fully formed philosophy of marriage—in which full union can only be achieved when each partner prioritizes the well-being and self-realization of the other. His analysis of the true meaning of human love is life changing and practical, shedding light on real issues between men and women. In Men, Women and the Mystery of Love, Edward Sri unpacks the contents of this great work, making it accessible to every reader. He emphasizes the down-to-earth nature of Love and Responsibility, giving readers actionable advice on issues such as: • How to determine if a relationship is one of authentic love or is doomed to failure • The problem of pornography • The meaning of friendship • How to achieve greater intimacy in marriage Study questions with each chapter make this a valuable resource not only for individual personal reading, but also for small group study.

Download The Mystery of Suffering books, In The Mystery of Suffering—a timeless classic first written in 1963—celebrated British Benedictine monk, author, and sculptor Hubert van Zeller (1905-1984) offers an eloquent response to the question of human suffering: Those who endure suffering with hope and trust in Divine Providence will embark on an ever-deeper path to holiness that leads to eternal glory. Van Zeller believed that those who surrender to the pain and embrace it as a way to identify with the Passion of Christ discover its deeper meaning, replacing fear with trust, resistance with peace, and defeat with the “triumph of grace.”

The Mystery of Sin, a book by Kunle Prosper. Get The Mystery of Sin Books in several format like PDF, EPUB, Mobi. Download The Mystery of Sin books, Sin has been the major problem confronting humanity right from the creation thereby making millions to fall short of their God ordained destiny in Jesus Christ. However, the full understanding of this subject is daily becoming distorted by many in the church of Christ. There are so many congregations in which mentioning this subject has even become a taboo. Ministers of God and members alike now see sin as civilization and advancement in knowledge. Many people cannot even give a correct definition to it. The religious circles have also built a lot of strange doctrines around the subject of sin. This is the reason why the Holy Spirit inspired me to write this book. In this book therefore, you will discover the root of the original sin. You will understand why many people are forcefully bound to sin, and it is impossible for them to break loose. You will also understand the power of sin through which it has been able to hold men bond throughout ages. You will be able to see sin not only from the Old Testament perspective but also as it is in the New. This book thoroughly dealt with the issue of the unpardonable sin and the much debated issue of Sin unto death. Finally, you will be able to understand the reason why religion doesn't have an answer to the issue of sin. Why ablutions and spiritual birth cannot take it away. You will also be able to discover the only God ordained escape out of the shackles of sin. The Mystery of Sin therefore contains the mind of God that is required for this generation to escape sin and access the glorious liberty of redemption.

The Mystery of God, a book by Steven D. Boyer,Christopher A. Hall. Get The Mystery of God Books in several format like PDF, EPUB, Mobi. Download The Mystery of God books, How can I know God if he is incomprehensible? Is it possible to know God in a way that takes seriously the fact that he is beyond knowledge? Steven Boyer and Christopher Hall argue that the "mystery of God" has a rightful place in theological discourse. They contend that considering divine incomprehensibility invites reverence and humility in our thinking and living as Christians and clarifies a variety of theological topics. The authors begin by investigating the biblical, historical, and practical foundations for understanding the mystery of God. They then spell out its implications for theological issues and practices such as the incarnation, salvation, and prayer, rooting knowledge of God in a concrete life of faith. Evangelical yet ecumenical, this book will appeal to theology students, pastors, church leaders, and all who want intellectual and practical guidance for knowing the unknowable God.
