The Axe and Man, a book by Charles A. Heavrin. Get The Axe and Man Books in several format like PDF, EPUB, Mobi. Download The Axe and Man books, A wonderful book that covers the vast range of axes used throughout time and throughout the world, starting with the early stone hand-axes of the paleolithic period through the flint, copper, and bronze axes of early civilizations, the early iron axes of the medieval ages, and the production of steel axes made possible by the Industrial Revolution. Included are discussions of all axe types from celts to hand axes, tomahawks to hatchets, pebble tools to broad axes, plus a chapter on special axes. The author gives detailed descriptions of the axes, how they were made and the materials used, and the evolution of their design over time. Accompanying the descriptions are over 100 photographs of the axes, many seen only in museums. The axe was one of man's earliest tools, and remained one of his most important almost until the present day. Yet over the tens of thousands of years of its use, the changes in its design have been surprisingly small. Students of the history of technology and tool collectors alike will find this a fascinating boo

Download Book of the Little Axe books, This “masterful epic” spans decades and oceans from Trinidad to the American frontier during the tumultuous days of westward expansion (Publishers Weekly). Trinidad, 1796. Young Rosa Rendón quietly rebels against the life others expect her to lead. Bright, competitive, and opinionated, she does not intend to cook and keep house, for it is obvious her talents lie in running the farm she views as her birthright. But when her homeland changes from Spanish to British rule, the fate of free black property owners—Rosa’s family among them—is suddenly jeopardized. By 1830, Rosa is living among the Crow Nation in Bighorn, Montana, with her children and her husband, Edward Rose, a Crow chief. Her son Victor is of the age where he must seek his vision and become a man. But his path forward is blocked by secrets Rosa has kept from him. So Rosa must take him to where his story began and, in turn, retrace her own roots. Along the way, she must acknowledge the painful events that forced her from the middle of an ocean to the rugged terrain of a far-away land. A Booklist Editor’s Choice Book of the Year

In the heedlessness of youth, they become lovers, unaware that their ardor will forge the first link in a chain of murder, exile, and disgrace. Undset's novel is also a meticulous re-creation of a world split between pagan codes of retribution and the rigors of Christian piety--a world where law is a fragile new invention and manslaughter is so common that it's punishable by a fine."Undset reproduces medieval Norway in all the rich pageantry of color and form...she can transport us eight centuries and several thousand miles more effectively than most writers can take us into the house next door."--The Nation

The Axe, a book by Ludvik Vaculik. Get The Axe Books in several format like PDF, EPUB, Mobi. Download The Axe books, Alongside Milan Kundera's The Joke, The Axe was one of the most influential novels to appear in Czechoslovakia during the cultural reawakening of the 1960s. Blending lyricism and iconoclasm, Vaculik portrays a culture in upheaval through the timeless story of father and son, joined by idealism but separated by a changing world. It is the mid-1960s, and in Czechoslovakia communist ideology is fading. One disillusioned, middle-aged journalist retreats from the politics of Prague to the Moravian countryside of his childhood. There he rediscovers a complex relationship with his dead father, a crusader for communism in the early days, who reappears through letters written decades earlier. When the narrator is accused of disgracing his father and his proletariat background, he realizes that he, too, is a leader - but the stakes now are reversed. He finds new relevance in his father's words: "An extraordinary time requires extraordinary measures". But now the son continues, "I followed the Party line in the first phase of my political life. In the next phase I tried to get rid of it when it prevented me from thinking for myself".

Download The Axe Factor books, Since Jimm Juree moved, under duress, with her family to a rural village on the coast of Southern Thailand, she misses the bright lights of Chiang Mai. Most of all, she's missed her career as a journalist, which was just getting started. In Chiang Mai, she was covering substantial stories and major crimes. But here in Maprao, Jimm has to scrape assignments from the local online journal, the Chumphon Gazette—and be happy about it when she gets one. This time they are sending her out to interview a local farang (European) writer, a man in his late fifties, originally from England, who writes award-winning crime novels, one Conrad Coralbank. At the same time, several local women have left town without a word to anyone, leaving their possessions behind. These include the local doctor, Dr. Sumlak, who never returned from a conference, and the Thai wife of that farang writer, the aforementioned Conrad Coralbank. All of which looks a little suspicious, especially to Jimm's grandfather, an ex-cop, who notices Coralbank's interest in Jimm with a very jaundiced eye. With a major storm headed their way and a potential serial killer on the loose, it looks like Jimm Juree, her eccentric family, and the whole town of Maprao is in for some major changes. The Axe Factor is a Jimm Juree mystery from Colin Cotterill.

And they are the only ones keeping the mysterious and murderous Terrors from overrunning the world. Nicia Silverthread doesn’t live on the Island, but she knows the truth about the Clan. She’s the daughter of an outcast. Although she has magic within her, she’s no warrior. But when she learns her grandma is dying, Nicia is determined to see her one last time. Sneaking back onto the Island is easy, but to leave...? All she has to do is break a few magically bound contracts, destroy a Terror unlike any other, catch a murderer before they strike again, find a flower on a mountain not-quite-of-this-world, and stop herself from falling for a fiance she never wanted in the first place. Download In the Shadow of the Axe books, The year is 1847, and Kasch Möllhausen has returned to the small German mountain village of Helmburg in disgrace. Kicked out of the Swiss boarding school where he was unforgivably abandoned by his father, Luther Möllhausen, his humiliating homecoming is further complicated by the news that Luther has died. Worse, Kasch learns that the father he has come to despise instructed the village elders not to inform Kasch of his death or invite him back for the funeral. But not everyone hates Luther as much as Kasch does. To the people of Helmburg, Luther was a hero. Shortly before Kasch was born, Luther led an uprising against the Necromancer, a mysterious figure who lived in a castle high in the mountains and preyed mercilessly upon the villagers. It was Luther who struck the final blow and put an end to the Necromancer's reign of terror. But Kasch finds Helmburg is still a haunted village. The ghosts of the Necromancer's victims have begun appearing at night, and the old survivors of the uprising are being killed one by one, their bodies chopped to pieces. With the help of Hahn Gehrig, the elderly village doctor, and Liese Maentel, Kasch's childhood love, he sets out to discover if the Necromancer is still alive—which would prove once and for all that his father was no hero—or if someone else is responsible for the murders, a madman living among them with no conscience or mercy. The terrifying truth he uncovers will change Helmburg forever—because the past leaves a long shadow, and the axe has only just begun to fall. Also included with In the Shadow of the Axe, a bonus short story — "(F)earless".

The Tale of the Axe, a book by David Miles. Get The Tale of the Axe Books in several format like PDF, EPUB, Mobi. Download The Tale of the Axe books, How the New Stone Age shaped our world Approximately 12,000 years ago, early humans in western Asia and Europe who had been itinerant foragers, subsisting on what food they could find, slowly began settling in one place. They farmed and domesticated animals, created new tools, built monuments, and began preserving and storing food. What brought about this shift? What difference did it make to the overall population? And what effects did this Neolithic Revolution have on generations to come? The Tale of the Axe explores the New Stone Age—named for the new types of stone tools that appeared at that time, specifically the ground stone axe—taking Britain as its focus. David Miles takes the reader on a journey through Neolithic Britain by way of its ancestors, geographical neighbors, and the species from which humans emerged before turning an eye to the future and those aspects of the Neolithic Revolution that live on today: farming, built communities, modern man, and much more.

The Axe-Man Legend, a book by Drac Von Stoller. Get The Axe-Man Legend Books in several format like PDF, EPUB, Mobi. Download The Axe-Man Legend books, During the Victorian period an invisible killer was on the loose that left a trail of bloodshed throughout the U.S., by way of an ax. No one was safe in any town. The Axe-Man didn’t show any mercy towards man, woman or child. All he had on his mind was leaving a trail of dead bodies behind for the police to scratch their heads over. The murders went unsolved with no suspects to bring closure to the devastated relatives. As decade after decade wore on and no shred of evidence the case went cold as ice until a letter was found in the attic of an old Victorian home by the new owner. A couple by the name of Henry and Victoria Smith purchased the home. Henry and Victoria were elated to finally have the home they always dreamed of and couldn’t wait to fix it up and show it off to friends and family. The home wasn’t that well-kept but Henry and Victoria didn’t care and had plenty of money to fix it up to their liking. Everything was going as planned with the renovations. About a week later all the lower-level renovations were complete and Henry and his crew he hired for the renovations began the upper-level renovations. As Victoria was growing tired of watching Henry and the crew work on the renovations, she told Henry she was going to check out the attic and see if there are any antiques the owner left behind. Henry told her good luck and Victoria kissed him on the cheek and headed up the stairs to the attic. As she was looking around the attic with the anticipation of finding a treasure left behind, she found a small box that appeared to have blood stains on it.
