Original Islam, a book by Yasin Dutton. Get Original Islam Books in several format like PDF, EPUB, Mobi. Download Original Islam books, Original Islam investigates the primacy of Madinan Islam and the madhhab (school of law) of its main exponent, Malik ibn Anas. It contains an annotated translation of Intisar al-faqir al-salik li-tarjih madhhab al-Imam al-kabir Malik, which was written by al-Ra'i, a fifteenth-century Andalusian scholar resident in Cairo. This book includes: a comprehensive section on the scholarly credentials of the great eighth-century Madinan jurist Malik ibn Anas a detailed examination of a number of theoretical and practical disputed legal issues examples of the inter-madhhab rivalry and prejudice prevalent in fifteenth-century Cairo an extensive introduction giving background information on al-Ra’i and his life and times. It also highlights the significance of the text for contemporary Muslim discourse, in which both "modernist" and "fundamentalist" elements often equate the concept of madhhab with an outmoded tradition which must be rejected as irrelevant to the practice of Islam in a globalized world. This book aims to put this ongoing controversy about madhhab, particularly the Maliki madhhab and its "pre-madhhab" Madinan origins, on a surer footing. Original Islam provides access to a hitherto little known area of Islamic law and is essential reading for those with interests in this area.

Sulla, a book by Lynda Telford. Get Sulla Books in several format like PDF, EPUB, Mobi. Download Sulla books, Lucius Cornelius Sulla is one of the central figures of the late Roman Republic. Indeed, he is often considered a major catalyst in the death of the republican system. the ambitious general whose feud with a rival (Marius) led to his marching on Rome with an army at his back, leading to civil war and the terrible internecine bloodletting of the proscriptions. In these things, and in his appropriation of the title of dictator with absolute power, he set a dangerous precedent to be followed by Julius Caesar a generation later. Lynda Telford believes Sulla's portrayal as a monstrous, brutal tyrant is unjustified. While accepting that he was responsible for much bloodshed, she contends that he was no more brutal than many of his contemporaries who have received a kinder press. Moreover, even his harshest measures were motivated not by selfish ambition but by genuine desire to do what he believed best for Rome. The author believes the bias of the surviving sources, and modern biographers, has exaggerated the ill-feeling towards Sulla in his lifetime. After all, he voluntarily laid aside dictatorial power and enjoyed a peaceful retirement without fear of assassination. The contrast to Caesar is obvious. Lynda Telford gives a long overdue reappraisal of this significant personality, considering such factors as the effect of his disfiguring illness. The portrait that emerges is a subtle and nuanced one; her Sulla is very much a human, not a monster.

Ben-Gurion, a book by Anita Shapira. Get Ben-Gurion Books in several format like PDF, EPUB, Mobi. Download Ben-Gurion books, David Ben-Gurion cast an enormous shadow across his world, and his legacy in the Middle East and beyond continues to be hotly debated to this day. There have been many books written about the life and accomplishments of the Zionist icon and founder of modern Israel, but this new biography by eminent Israeli historian Anita Shapira is the first to get to the core of the complex man who would become the face of a new nation. Shapira tells the Ben-Gurion story anew, focusing especially on the period in 1948 immediately following Israel's declaration of independence, a time few historians have concentrated on and none have explored in such intimate detail. Through her intensive research and access to Ben-Gurion's personal archives and rarely viewed documents and letters, the author gained powerful insights into his private persona. Her fascinating literary portrait of David Ben-Gurion bares the flesh-and-blood man inside the influential historical figure who brought the Zionist dream to full fruition.

Conquest, a book by David Day. Get Conquest Books in several format like PDF, EPUB, Mobi. Download Conquest books, In this bold, sweeping book, David Day surveys the ways in which one nation or society has supplanted another, and then sought to justify its occupation - for example, the English in Australia and North America, the Normans in England, the Spanish in Mexico, the Japanese in Korea, the Chinese in Tibet. Human history has been marked by territorial aggression and expanion, an endless cycle of ownership claims by dominant cultures over territory occupied by peoples unable to resist their advance. Day outlines the strategies, violent and subtle, such dominant cultures have used to stake and bolster their claims - by redrawing maps, rewriting history, recourse to legal argument, creative renaming, use of foundation stories, tilling of the soil, colonization and of course outright subjugation and even genocide. In the end the claims they make reveal their own sense of identity and self-justifying place in the world. This will be an important book, an accessible and captivating macro-narrative about empire, expansion, and dispossession.

Though Doyce, newly retired from the position of Seeker General, has come along in the hopes of restrengthening her emotional ties with her husband Jenret, they seem to be caught in a kind of private war neither can control. And before the party even sets sail, “accidents” begin to occur. First Doyce is thrown by her mount. Next a campfire explosion menaces Jenneth, Diccon, and the other children. Yet despite these ill omens, they are determined not to turn back. But the real disaster strikes at sea, when a storm sweeps Jenneth and Pw’eek overboard. Desperate to find his lost twin, Diccon has no way of knowing what the worst of all of them still lies ahead—in the Sunerlies, where a once-vanquished and long-vanished enemy waits—a fanatic determined to eradicate Resonates and Seekers alike…

Racing with Rich Energy, a book by Elizabeth Blackstock,Alanis King. Get Racing with Rich Energy Books in several format like PDF, EPUB, Mobi. Download Racing with Rich Energy books, Formula One has long maintained a glitzy aura that masks dark and strange goings-on in the background. But with the 2019 season came a force louder than Formula One could dream of muffling: William Storey, the founder of British energy drink startup Rich Energy. Storey became a multimillion-dollar sponsor of the Haas Formula One team a year after records showed Rich Energy having a mere $770 in the bank. He equated his doubters to moon-landing truthers and publicly mocked both the Haas team and the entities winning legal disputes against him. But where were actual cans of Rich Energy, and did the supposed sponsorship funds exist? In the six months between Storey's first race as a Formula One sponsor and his very public exit, he stole the spotlight with a loud mouth and an active Twitter account. Haas team boss Guenther Steiner once described the Rich Energy news cycle as: "I'm getting sick of answering these stupid fucking questions on a race weekend. I've never seen any fucking thing like this." No one else had, either. This book uncovers the complete, bizarre story.

Something More Than Hope/Something More Than Everything, a book by Diana Lindsay,Kelly Lindsay. Get Something More Than Hope/Something More Than Everything Books in several format like PDF, EPUB, Mobi. Download Something More Than Hope/Something More Than Everything books, Written in the spirit of Norman Cousins' "Anatomy of an Illness" and Jill Bolte Taylor's "My Stroke of Insight," this book will forever change your thinking about the depth of our capacity to heal and heal one another. When Diana Lindsay couldn't blow out the candles on her birthday cake, she never imagined that it was because of stage IV lung cancer. Given a prognosis of just three to six months to live, she also never imagined that eight years later she and her husband would be sharing their highly improbable and unexpectedly joyful story of how they returned her to complete health. In 2006, the odds of Diana living long enough to see her newborn granddaughter enter kindergarten were one in a hundred. "How do I make it into the 1% Club?" she asks herself and steps into an assumption-challenging alternate future with her husband Kelly. Recognizing she will have to be willing to try what 99% wouldn't, Diana relentlessly pursues the latest medical technologies and opens her mind to a range of integrative therapies, including medical Qigong and Reiki. But it is her creativity with the ancient protocols of love, joy, and wonder---and how she and Kelly turn them into a Love-In, a Gratitude Tour, and a 48-state road trip in a Prius with a queen-size mattress in the back---that will surprise and delight you. This is not cancer-as-you-know-it. Despite the copious research Diana clearly presents, she recognizes that the longer the odds of survival, the shorter the medical evidence on which to base decisions. So she learns to "Skype" her own cells, and with astonishing clarity and prescience they guide her through medical and life decisions that bring her to much more than health. With unwavering love and often humorous storytelling, Kelly asks his own questions as Diana's primary caretender: "What do I do now? What can I do now? Can I win a bare-knuckles fight with my results-oriented mind to embrace the unknown? Can I cross the bridge to Woo-Woo without burning it?" Cross it he does, even learning to exhort his own cells when he too is diagnosed with cancer years later. This two-in-one book, combining both the patient and caretender perspectives, is a story of spirit and creativity. It offers any of us the encouragement to take advantage of something more than hope in the face of life crisis as well as the possibility of giving up---and astonishingly getting back---something more than everything. Advance Praise "A remarkable story that deserves to be told and re-told." --Elizabeth George, New York Times best-selling author "Diana and Kelly Lindsay have written a remarkable account of Diana's exceptional recovery from stage 4 lung cancer. They faced daunting odds with fierce intentionality and a wise integration of conventional and integrative therapies. Above all, they understand the healing power of love. A beautiful story, well told."--Michael Lerner, President and Founder, Commonweal, author of Choices in Healing "Diana and Kelly's moving journeys in the face of cancer affirm that miracles are made - not with blueprints or instruction manuals, but with courage, intuition, intelligence and abiding love. The honesty, humor and insights embedded in each chapter are unique to them as patient and caretaker, wife and husband, yet universal in their depiction of the human heart as it opens and closes and opens again to the onslaught of life in all its rawness and beauty. For those with a life-threatening illness and their loved ones, this book is like a dear friend at your side, reminding you that you are not alone, whatever your path may be."--Elise Miller, Med, Director, Collaborative on Health and the Environment

A lot of the city’s poverty, government aid, and crime occur in the south part of the city. David Williams is a former high school football All-American local legend who experienced a setback but rebounded in the US Army, which led to him being an Army Ranger who was awarded the Medal of Honor. After getting wounded and medically discharged against his will, he came back to his mother’s house to keep his younger siblings—RJ, Ashely, and Mya—in line and on the right path. With a mother who does not seem to care about her children and a father who none of David’s siblings have seen before, David wants to please God while keeping his siblings away from the devil’s seductions of illegal activity, gangs, drugs, teenage pregnancy, and STDs. He wants them all to graduate high school, go to college, and make it out of the south side of town that he blames for ruining so many young lives as he blames it for almost ruining his own.

Real Faith in Action, a book by Curl Oral Hazell. Get Real Faith in Action Books in several format like PDF, EPUB, Mobi. Download Real Faith in Action books, In this day of increasing uncertainty and fear, faith in God is needed more than ever before. In addition to its incalculable other benefits, faith in God brings peace, comfort, and overflowing joy to those who put their trust in God. But not any kind of "faith" can procure these benefits, only biblical faith can. When understood in its biblical authenticity, and then put into action, faith always leads to triumph in that it enables us to experience what God ordained for us to obtain, perform, and become. In light of this, it is extremely important that we--the people of God--possess a comprehensive, biblically-based, practical tool to aid us in achieving this understanding. Real Faith in Action is that tool! It presents an unconventional, multi-dimensional view of faith, revealing many aspects usually not discussed in other works, through nine principles that are clearly laid out by the Holy Spirit in what is unquestionably the most comprehensive reporting of the working of faith in all of Scripture--the roll call of faith in Hebrews 11. The principles are thus illustrated through the real life experiences of fellow humans who dared to believe God for the impossible. Accordingly, the book goes beyond explaining faith to demonstrating faith. It is designed to captivate and draw the reader into the world of the faith heroes of the past, thus inspiring him or her to do likewise. Furthermore, in that real life experiences are discussed, any thought of being incapable of doing the same should be vanquished, knowing that others succeeded in their accomplishments by utilizing the same faith to which we also have access.

Download Developing Differently books, Parenting isn't easy, and parenting a child with a Global Developmental Delay, Intellectual Disability, or Autism can be challenging. However, a lot of parenting strategies are straightforward once you get your head around them. With the right knowledge, environment, interactions, responses and understanding, you can help reduce your child's anxiety, build their confidence, and help them develop learning and communication skills. Based on his work as a Clinical Psychologist working with children developing differently, Dr Joshua Muggleton provides a comprehensive, step-by-step parenting plan that will support you to embed good practice at home from day one. The book outlines how to provide the right environment for your child to learn and grow, how to model and encourage new skills, how to organise routines, and how to make these strategies work in family life. By getting things right for your child early on, you can help prevent emotional and behavioural challenges before they arise, and will be better able to understand and support your child when they do. These strategies are designed to work across all neurodevelopmental conditions, and take into account co-occurring conditions such as ADHD, meaning none of the advice in the book requires your child to have a specific diagnosis. It also includes downloadable examples of charts, how-to guides for creating visual resources tailored to your child's individual needs, and downloadable chapters on sleep and siblings.
